Dorothy A. (O’Connor) Metcalfe, 89 years young, a homemaker, and longtime resident of Warwick, RI, peacefully passed away at her home on April 30, 2024. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Edward D. and Madeline R. (Stone) O’Connor.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Dorothy A. Lavigne, and Donna M. Roy (husband, Peter), alongside five grandchildren, Brooke, Bobby (Jen), April-Lynn, Colby (Hanna), Olivia, and one great-grandchild, Matthew. Dorothy was a loving sister to Madeline Gaulin and Patricia Brown (husband, Kenneth), and she is now reunited with her brother, Edward O’Connor. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.

Dorothy attended Catholic school for all of her education and was a proud graduate of Bay View Academy. Her home was her sanctuary, where she found solace tending to her yard, enjoying a hot cup of tea, indulging in Snickers candy bars, and eagerly scratching off lottery tickets. An avid football fan, she held a special place in her heart for Tom Brady and enjoyed cheering on the Patriots with loved ones by her side.
She was known as the “Diva,” which she was proud to be called, as well as Nan, Bird, Dot, and Dottie! She loved being the center of attention and truly enjoyed life!

The family extends sincere appreciation to the compassionate VNA hospice nurses, Beth and Mary, who always made her day with their visits, kind words, and laughs!

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, May 10, 2024, at 11am in St. Peter Church, 350 Fair St, Warwick. Her burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations made to VNA of Care New England, 51 Health Lane, Warwick, RI 02886 will be greatly appreciated.
