I don't think a majority of kids have the discipline to work virtually to facilitate closing down schools.

There are too many distractions and half of them would probably be screwing off on facebook or other social media rather than focusing on their classes.

It could be useful in snow storms, but even then you'd be looking at the city would need to provide free internet access to people who can't afford it on their own.
