RIAC should stop goofing around and start building the glycol plant as soon as possible. This will create jobs for union people and help the environment. Since RIAC has $40 million in free cash in its piggy bank, it can build this plant without embarrassing the State of Rhode Island with more credit ratings problems.

RIAC could also put in the safety improvements creating still more jobs by selling off unused property it took in for noise mitigation and weird commercial expansion plans on Post Road. There are private interests that want to build corporate jet facilities at Green and new buildings on Post Road. Sell the property to build corporate hangers and shops on Post Road and use the money to put in the safety improvements.

If the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce still wants to build the useless runway extension, let it. The Chamber is free to ask the governor to Introduce legislation at the State House that raises taxes to pay for the extension. See how far that gets them. The fact is the airlines will not pay for the runway extension. These kinds of talks will scare JetBlue away from the table and will sound the alarm to USAirways, Delta, and Southwest.

I know how to get to Logan by train or bus. You may need to learn how to do that too or pay through the nose for some crowded turboprop to get to God knows where -- on your quest for a West Coast flight. Or take the path above to fiscal responsibility to create jobs and make the airport better.
