My children weren't involved in the ENRICH activity featured in the article, but we are Warwick homeschoolers. I want to echo the first post. If I didn't know better I would read Mr. Clark's article and be left with the impression that most families choose to homeschool for religious or health reasons - and sometimes, just to be different. Dr. Siesel shared her observation that “many families" choose to homeschool because of religious beliefs. True enough. She could have just as easily replaced “religious beliefs” with a dozen other motivators, and the sentence would still hold true. I think there is only one motive that can fairly characterize all homeschoolers, and that is that we have made a choice to do what works best for our kids and our family. Beyond that, it’s open water, and for many families those waters are secular.
