Warwick is not "mostly blacktop". Take a ride throughout the whole city and you will see neighborhoods, 3 beaches and beautiful views of the Narragansett Bay. People come from all over the State of Rhode Island to eat at Top of the Bay and Timmy's One Bay Avenue in Oakland Beach, and Iggy's is crowded throughout the summer and beyond. There are more people who live outside of Warwick there than Warwick residents. I enjoyed many an hour this past summer at Conimicut Point as well as Warwick City Park in Buttonwoods. You don't have to fight traffic, and you can just stay for a short while if you'd like at these beautiful spots. Warwick is a wonderful city that remains nice because of the many neighborhoods. The Apponaug and Pawtuxet villages are historic as well as the Pontiac area. Sure, we have lots of retail areas (first Mall in RI was Midland Mall!), and we have a great selection of top notch stores (Nordstrom's Rack is opening at Warwick Mall next week). We also have lots of great events like Gaspee Days, National Night Out and Fireworks at the Oakland Beach seawall. Warwick housing is still affordable compared to other cities, and while we are not East Greenwich, we are also not West Warwick. There's lots of cities and towns in RI that are doing much worse fiscally. So, I am happy and proud to have been born and raised in Warwick. I've been a homeowner for 20 years, and I still love Warwick.
