Well written and comprehensive narrative of my 4th great grandfather's exploits. Needless to say, we are endlessly proud to be descended from him. My only concern continues to be the mis-information about his supervision of the construction of the USS Constitution. He sperintended the contruction of the frigate President, at New York City, until Congress ceased the building and limited the number to three that were to be finished. Silas did subsequently command the US Frigate Constitution, from 1799-1801, during the Quasi War with France. He succeeded the first to command her, Captain Samuel Nicholson, thereby becoming the second to command her, with his First Lt, Isaac Hull.
