Good Lord, where to start. Perhaps Whitehouse captured the Nanny State that is RI the best: "...you will be hardpressed to find one issue affecting children that does not lead back to the federal budget,” said Whitehouse. Oh really, senator? How, exactly, does the federal budget impact student suspensions, breast feeding, or "...a talented young musician killed due to his involvement with gangs"? According to the captains of the Nanny State, EVERY decision should be controlled by the State and there is never, ever enough money 'for the children'. Of course, none of these hacking beaurocrats ever mention that we will spend more money next year than we do this year on make-work programs that yield no measurable impact. And when they are asked about it, the requisite response will be that (wait for it...wait for it...) we don't spend enough money. No one is ever accountable and more money is always the answer. From the waste of taxpayer dollars to the abject failure of governmnet to cure whatever crisis is in vogue (this year it's "childhood obesity"), it's all very predictable
