According to Mr. Armstrong it would be cost-prohibitive to retrofit the school as a fire station "...because of the below-grade floor of the school's all purpose room and the elevation required to accomodate the engines." Here's a humble suggestion... fill in the floor & raise the roof.

Call me a cynic (living in Rhode Island will do that to you), but I can't help think that somebody is about to scam tons of used red brick & copper plumbing from the existing structure. Warwick Taxpayers will bear the cost of "site prep" when in fact the lucky contractor will reap a profit from liquidating the brick & copper tubing.

I'm sure Mr. Armstrong is a very capable Fire Chief, I just question his architectural qualifications. I would hope that a qualified individual decides whether to salvage & retrofit the existing building or demolish it.
