Only at a teachers' union event would you get the president of a teachers' union saying “This is not a union event today..." with pictures of union placards in the background. These people are hilarious. You could have Jesus Christ take the position of education commissioner, and if he asked one teacher to do one thing differently, the union would up in arms. And all the while, RI's teachers continue to be some of the highest paid in the country in exchange for some of the most dismal measurable outcomes.
"If Gist’s contract is renewed, Chidester went as far as to say that “civil disobedience” could be likely among educators." Now you're talking!! The question is: If you don't teach, will anyone notice?
