Gordianknot,

This school budget contains over $600K for new Math textbooks. It doesnt contain money for professional development,, which would be helpful since we're implementing the new Common Core curriculm. The upcoming PARCC assessments that are replacing NECAP tests are required to be taken on computers and there's no money in the budget for that and we dont have enough computers. We can keep going, if you'd like. Look around at ANY other school district in the state and nationally and you'll find that 80-85% of every school district's costs are salaries and benefits. Funny but I don't think I've ever heard you criticize that the city's side of the budget has increased 50% (over $30 million) over the past 8 years and the overwhelming majority of those dollars has gone to pension an healthcare benefits for retires. And you're criticizing the department on salary & benefits??
