Time will tell. But this is only the beginning. The de-icing system may be a cost buster. I would expect some changes in that to minimize costs. And don't forget, this is a government managed/sponsored project-it will likely take longer to complete & be over budget; the FAA won't likely cover the cost overruns. That means passengers will pay for it. As far as municipalities taking over the airports in Newport & Westerly, I don't think so. If the airports are losing money, the cities/towns(taxpayers) can't afford them. Start to inventory your assets at these airports(planes, structures, etc.) & try to find a private airport operator or sell the assets piecemeal. Kelly Fredericks states, " Our cost per operation is way higher" than other airports. This is bad news. Until your costs become more competitive, airlines won't increase flights or start to provide service from/to Green.

Kelly Fredericks is a good PR person-he needs everyone on his side to promote Green; that is the way it should be. But four years is a long time & there may be some issues that weren't foreseen in the planning stages(unanticipated extra or outside costs regarding Main Ave. relocation, maybe additional houses/businesses need to be acquired, or maybe unforeseen problems with the wetlands, etc.). We'll see.
