It is a concern to hear that with enough patience and money, a citiizen can petition to no end for a variance without respect to how extravagant the request stands to be. Potowomut can be considered a hidden gem when it comes to it's views, low attended beaches and kind-hearted neighbors. It would be highly unlikely to hear these neighbors protest a family trying to build their home. However, it is highly likely to hear a community clap and cheer in the face of injustice. Homes being built in this area rely on scenic aspects such as quaint surrounding beach cottages and 'decent' views to enhance property value for home owners and to increase rent value. The home that is going to be built will be outside what is needed for the family and that is fine, but to deceivingly tear down a wall and foundation, stretching the limits even farther will cause all effected parties to take notice.
