In that entire letter, Mr. Carlin does not mention even one instance of an actual case of voter fraud in Rhode Island. He doesn't point to any "illegal alien" who voted. He does mention all the reasons not to have voter ID but tosses them aside as inconsequential, even though there is more evidence of those irregularities than ofactal illegal voting. He mentions the ability to rig elections through computerized voting machinery but doesn't link this ability- by the state, not the voter - with the need for vote IDs. He claims elderly voters who vote early can be coerced but doesn't establish how voter ID will end this practice. There has been public testimony in court cases in several southern, Republican-controlled, states that, one, there has not been a massive surge in voter fraud; two, such fraud as has been done has been at the hands of local politicians 9not actual voters); and, three, that legislators have publicly admitted they instituted the laws to limit Democratic voting. It appears this former legislator has doffed his Democratic hat to don a Tea Party chapeau.
