I agree with the officials in the article about the State funding formula-Warwick is NOT receiving its fair share based on the student funding formula. However, that argument is with the RI GA/State Dept. of Education. The formula should be applied EQUALLY on a per student basis to each school district in the State.

As far as a Mayoral Academy in the Kent County District, it was only a matter of time until a proposal was forthcoming for Kent County. Whether or not the current proposal is granted, a Mayoral Academy/Charter School is likely to be granted at some point in the near future. It may not be in Warwick, but it will serve Warwick Students.

The Warwick School Committee/System/Community should address their funding issues/problems NOW! Declining student enrollment is likely to continue; Warwick needs to face its MAIN PROBLEM! Too many physical locations to maintain with staff & all the related costs(salaries/maintainence/insuance/transportation/etc.)
