The Warwick PAL junior varsity football team didn’t lose a game in state and regional play, as it went on to down the Revere Junior Patriots, 27-0, to capture the New England crown at Commerce Bank Field at Foley Stadium in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Running back Darius Frey was the star of the game against Revere, getting into the end zone twice while eclipsing 150 yards rushing.
The defensive unit was equally impressive in the shutout effort, as well.
“I’ll just recognize my defense as a whole because they were really good,” PAL head coach Brian Widmer said. “They gave up no points throughout the regional and have only allowed 13 points through 11 games this season.”
PAL went on to compete in Pop Warner Nationals at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports Complex in Kissimmee, Florida.
