15’s bow out to Cranston, end streak of state titles

Posted

For the first time in three years, the now 15-year-old Warwick PAL all-star team won’t be headed to regionals.

After winning the state championship the past two seasons as 13 and 14-year-olds, Warwick was eliminated on Saturday by Cranston 4-3 in nine innings in the state championship.

Warwick would have had to beat Cranston twice in order to claim another state title, as Cranston was unbeaten through the tournament and Warwick had come out of the loser’s bracket.

For the total tournament, Warwick finished 2-2, with both of its losses coming to Cranston by a combined two runs. Cranston had defeated Warwick 3-2 earlier in the tournament.
