21-year-old hurt in crash

The Warwick Police responded to a five-car collision on Bald Hill Road at 7:24 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 7. The Traffic Division’s Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the collision. A 2000 Ford mustang was traveling north on Bald Hill Road when it lost control and entered the southbound lanes where it was struck by a pickup truck going south and eventually came to rest against a parked car in the Herb Chambers Auto Dealership. A second collision occurred when two other vehicles operating southbound collided, with one of them also striking the pickup truck.

The operator of the mustang was thrown from the vehicle and trapped under his car until Warwick Police and Fire personnel extricated him. The driver, 21-year-old Kyle China, of Warwick, was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries and is still listed in critical condition. Two of the other drivers were taken to Kent Hospital with minor injuries.

As of yesterday, no further information has been released and it is still unclear if speed or alcohol played a role in the collision.

Any person with information related to the collision is requested to contact the Warwick Police Department Traffic Division at 468-4343.
