3. Chafee sails in Rio

Posted

Along with partner Bora Gulari, Warwick native Louisa Chafee represented the United States superbly at the Olympics in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, over the summer.

Chafee came up short of finding the podium, but she and Gulari battled until the end, coming back to take fourth in the Nacra 17 medal race while capturing eighth overall.

After getting a taste of the Olympics this year, Chafee has already set her sights on the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

If Chafee and Gulari remain a tandem, she believes that they’ll be coming home with a medal next time around.

“If we’re able to stay together, we’d win gold,” Louisa said upon landing at T.F. Green Airport on Aug. 23. “We could have been in medal contention this time around – a few things slightly different, and we could’ve been right up there in the top five fighting with those other teams. Give us four more years together and we’ll have a medal around our neck, and it’s going to be a shiny, gold one.”
