Mayor Scott Avedisian joined Randy Deats and Kathy St. Jean, owners of The Dancing Feeling, Thursday afternoon to celebrate the official grand opening of the company’s new and expanded studio at 2429 Post Road. Previously owned by the New England Institute of Technology and occupied by Gold’s Gym, Deats and St. Jean have completely renovated the building to provide for individual and group instruction areas plus an expansive dance floor. In addition to staff members, those attending the ceremony included Lauren Slocum, president and CEO of the Central Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce, Karen Jedson, director of the city’s Department of Tourism, Culture and Development and Jo-Ann Schofield, president and CEO of the Rhode Island Mentoring Partnership. The Dancing Feeling, which is celebrating 31 years of dancing, has teamed up with the partnership to stage Dancing With the Stars of Mentoring, an annual event pairing celebrities with professional dancers for the benefit of the partnership. Here, Avedisian with Deats and St. Jean cuts the ribbon before joining St. Jean on the dance floor.
