Congrats to all these honor students. Your families and your teachers must be very proud. So must the 80,000 citizens of our city.

I can't understand, however, how Warwick teachers can produce such quality students and still not have a contract. Students mentioned above, I ask that you contact the members of the School Committee and encourage them to sit and negotiate with the Warwick Teachers Union. Don't ask for a raise-in-pay contract. Don't ask for a cut-in-pay contract. Just ask for a signed contract. I think we can all agree that the teachers deserve at least that.

    Thank you star-students.

    Happy Summer to you.

    Happy Summer everyone.

Factual response to the prior comment by the fake "mayor" for students and their parents who value honesty and accuracy:

-- "I can't understand, however, how Warwick teachers can produce such quality students and still not have a contract."

    - Only inattentive readers [which these honor roll students clearly are not, while the fake "mayor" clearly is] would have missed the news coverage of the teachers union rejecting the contract offer approved by the school committee.

Here, for the benefit of honest, taxpaying readers, are two direct links to that coverage:

    https://warwickpost.com/update-warwick-school-committee-oks-mediated-teacher-contract-union-rejects-deal/

    http://warwickonline.com/stories/teachers-reject-mediated-contract-offer,126005?

In contrast to the many honor roll students named in this list, the fake "mayor" gets an "F" for reading comprehension, and will no doubt continue to embarrass himself in his future comments.

    No CrickeeRaven,

I didn't miss the news coverage of the School Committee offering a contract that was NOT acceptable to the Warwick Teachers Union. I also didn't miss the number of times the Teachers Union complained that they were willing to sit and negotiate but the School Committee refused. You must have missed all of those news items.

The rest of us saw them.

    Clearly.

    Happy Summer CrickeeRaven.

    Happy Summer Warwick Teachers Union.

    Happy Summer everyone.

Once again, the fake "mayor" provides a cautionary example to our students of how not to behave: At the same time, he concedes that the teachers union contributed to the current no-contract situation while blaming the school committee for the union's decision to reject the contract it was offered.

He then suggests some imaginary "us" who somehow ignore the factual sequence of events as justification for his double-speak.

It is a certainty that he will continue to embarrass himself in his future comments.

    Dear CrickeeRaven,

    You're right!

I DO blame the School Committee for the Teachers Union rejecting their most recent contract offer. I blame them for trying to sway public opinion by exposing only that portion of the contract that makes the School Committee look good. I think it's a cheap shot. The public doesn't have the whole picture. The School Committee obviously didn't expose the part that DIDN'T make them look good. They are trying to gain public support without showing the whole picture. Trying to win in the court of public opinion is acting in horribly-bad-faith. The Teachers Union didn't do that. They took the moral high ground. They were acting ethically and privately, and the public noticed. The School Committee should be ashamed of themselves. I am ashamed of them and I know many others are too.

You always support them though, no matter what.

You sound like you are a member of the School Committee, past or present. Are you CrickeeRaven? Are you RoseMary? Or Bethany? Or Jennifer? And you never answered me. Can I call you CR?

    Happy Summer Warwick Teachers.

    Happy Summer everyone.

Corrections to the prior comment by the "fake" mayor for readers who value honesty:

-- "I blame [the school committee] for trying to sway public opinion..."

    - Clearly the fake "mayor" is choosing to ignore the repeated public protests outside of City Hall conducted by the union, or else he believes that such actions must not "sway public opinion."

For the benefit of readers who value the truth, a direct link to a news article on one of the union protests: https://warwickpost.com/teachers-picket-city-hall-mayor-pledges-continued-advisory-role-contract-negotiations/

-- "Trying to win in the court of public opinion is acting in horribly-bad-faith."

    - Says the failed candidate who continues to use this site to push his already-disproven claims and conspiracy theories, including the following:

-- "You sound like you are a member of the School Committee, past or present. Are you CrickeeRaven? Are you RoseMary? Or Bethany? Or Jennifer?"

    - 26,281 voters rejected his candidacy in 2016, and yet the fake "mayor" believes anyone disagreeing with him can only be aligned with the school committee. Such a narrow perspective is clearly not what honest, taxpaying voters in Warwick value, and they are certain to reject his candidacy again if he should decide to waste his money on another futile campaign.

As pathetic as his behavior is, the fake "mayor" will no doubt continue to embarrass himself in his future comments.

    Dear CrickeeRaven,

I received 13,278 votes (more than any previous Avedisian opponent) and I didn't accept one check from any Political Action Committee. (Not bad for a first timer, right?) Everyone knows that the PAC's want "political favors" in return. Mayor Avedisian received his votes by selling out to the PAC's. (237 checks!) If he didn't, I would be your new Mayor, and CR, 2018 is right around the corner. I represent the 80,000 taxpayers that are paying the tab. He represents the PAC's. See you then.

    Happy Summer CR.

    Happy Summer everyone.

For readers who value accuracy and honesty, here is a direct link showing the winning incumbent mayor's campaign receipts from Jan. 1, 2015 through Dec. 31, 2016: http://bit.ly/2uH2JWG

It can also be found by visiting http://www.elections.state.ri.us/finance/publicinfo/ and entering "Avedisian" in the "name" field, then selecting "Contributions" and entering the appropriate information filters.

At the top of the page is a summary showing $88,227 in individual contributions [that is, those from residents of Warwick and other communities, which the losing "mayor" overwhelmingly did not get] and $5,945 from political action committees.

Simple math proves that the PAC contributions represent 6.74% of the donations received by the winning mayor. Clicking on the "Type" link on the table sorts the information and shows 28 classified as "PAC." Not 237 -- 28.

The fake "mayor" clearly believes that by repeating it often enough, his false claim will somehow change the overwhelming public support the winning incumbent mayor enjoys. Honest, taxpaying voters will not let his noise distract them from his inadequacies as a candidate.

He will no doubt continue to humiliate himself in his future comments.

It is likely that the fake "mayor" will reply by saying that his claim is based on all-time contributions received by the winning incumbent mayor. Here is a link to that data: http://bit.ly/2txfxiB

Setting aside his attempt to obscure the issue by discussing the incumbent mayor's entire campaign finance record, which stretches back to the special election in 2000, and honest and factual comparison of the hundreds of individual contributions totalling $964,267.89 and the 250 PAC contributions of $68,685 shows that 7.12% of contributions were from PACs.

It is a certainty that the fake "mayor" will continue humiliating himself by making the false claim that PACs have somehow had more influence on the incumbent mayor than the residents of Warwick and other communities who contributed to his winning campaigns.

How many PACs give money to mayoral races?

Friday, July 21, 2017 Report this

  • CrickeeRaven

    Hello Justanidiot:

It is actually routine for PACs to make contributions to mayoral campaigns [obviously not including that of the fake "mayor," who from his recent comments seems to be angling for teachers union money]. For Avedisian's campaigns it's somewhere around 40 organizations [just eyeballing the list] that have donated repeatedly. They include organizations like the AFL-CIO, attorneys' offices, local companies like Beacon Mutual, the teachers union, Rhode Island Good Government, and the RI Optometric Association.

Maybe the "mayer" is worried about that infamous eye doctor cartel.

Friday, July 21, 2017 Report this

  • richardcorrente

    Dear Justanidiot,

    Fact number one:

How many PAC's give money? In the 2016 Mayoral race for Warwick...237 PAC checks gave money to Mayor Avedisian's campaign. I didn't accept ANY PAC checks.I won't be controlled by ANY political insiders.

    Fact number two:

CrickeeRaven is not much of a mathematician. Kinda hard to get 237 checks out of "40 organizations". The Board of Elections would have a problem with that, wouldn't they.

Clearly, Avedisian is the "Mayor of the political insiders". (PAC's)

I consider myself "The Taxpayers Mayor". That's the big difference between us. That, and he wants to "increase taxes - increase spending" and I am committed to "cut taxes - cut spending". And apparently, everyone is agreeing. The City Council was bombarded with that message from their constituents and they refused all 29 of Mayor Avedisians' tax-raising amendments UNANIMOUSLY! I am proud to be part of the movement that stopped taxes from going up FOR THE FIRST TIME IN EIGHTEEN YEARS! And 2018 is around the corner, old friend.

Which of us do you prefer, Justanidiot?

    Happy Summer everyone.

    Rick Corrente

    Proudly, The Taxpayers Mayor

Despite factual, objective information being presented to him, the fake "mayor" still insists: "In the 2016 Mayoral race for Warwick...237 PAC checks gave money to Mayor Avedisian's campaign."

This statement is false. Here, again, is the link for the period of Jan. 1, 2015 through Dec. 31, 2016, which can reasonably be considered pertaining to the 2016 campaign. As shown in black and white, the winning mayor received 28 checks from PACs -- not 237: http://bit.ly/2uH2JWG

That fact will not be changed by the fake "mayor" repeating his false statement.

Using the twisted logic of the fake "mayor", one can reasonably conclude that his loyalty is not to the honest, taxpaying voters of Warwick but to himself, since he was the source for $41,458 of the funding for his losing campaign, while $8,395 [20.3%] came from individuals: http://bit.ly/2uQ9jtZ

By comparison, the winning incumbent mayor received 93.26% of his campaign contributions, or 4 1/2 times as much as the fake "mayor," from individuals as proven by the information at the above link to the RI Board of Elections website.

One can also conclude that the fake "mayor" received no PAC checks because those organizations knew what thousands of honest, taxpaying voters in Warwick understood: There was no chance he would win the election -- and they were all proven correct.

"I am proud to be part of the movement that stopped taxes from going up..." If this is true, the fake "mayor" should have no problem finally providing proof of this claim, a quote from a city councilor crediting him with influencing their votes, perhaps.

The fake "mayor" will continue to humiliate himself in his future comments by claiming that 28 equals 237, accusing others of being "not much of a mathematician," and falsely claiming credit for the work done by actual winning elected officials in the city.

I look forward to joining the thousands of honest, taxpaying voters in Warwick in overwhelmingly rejecting his candidacy again next November and proving that the noise he creates will not distract them from his inadequacy as a candidate.

Rick, once again you are proven to be a lying opportunist with no substance attached to anything you say. I'm curious what are some of the PACs that make up all 237 checks you claim were written? Who are these special interests that you claim want all favors all the time?

You ran for mayor for 2 years (fact), you loaned yourself over $40,000 in campaign $$$ (fact), you had hundreds of signs on every telephone pole all over the city (fact). What is your excuse for losing? Don't you think only receiving 13,000 votes is underperforming? To make excuses after such a pathetic showing shows how tone deaf you really are.

You didn't have the courage to tell voters you were behind/delinquent on taxes, or that you supported Stacia in the primary for mayor or that you lost your house due to foreclosure. All while claiming business/real estate experience is why you qualified to be mayor.

Nobody wants a mayor who says "cut taxes", while never knowing how to pay for any tax cuts. Nobody wants a mayor who says "cut spending" yet can't identify ONE line item in the budget they'd cut. You keep using the same talking points that led to you being embarrased in the debate and the election. You failed Rick! Time to move on...the prompt, real, ACTUAL taxpayers have spoken.

    Dear Scal and Raven,

Please remember that Mayor Dumbness loaned himself in excess of $30,000 to run for mayor at the same time that his property taxes, automobile taxes, and utility taxes were overdue which then became delinquent. How does one fail to pay his mortgage and taxes, be forcibly evicted from his home, yet during that time have enough discretionary dollars to loan himself 30K to run for office.

I am amazed more and more each day that passes, to acknowledge that the Non-Taxpayer has no limitations of embarrassment and public humiliation. I pity any person engaging him for a mortgage. Laughable. But then again, this is Rhode Island.
