$5,000 goes to cats and dogs
Yesterday WJAR awarded the Rhode Island Community Spay and Neuter Clinic $5,000 for helping WJAR’s Facebook page reach 50,000 “likes.” The organization had from Feb. 7 to 29 to grow the Facebook fan base from 33,300 to 50,000 to earn the $5,000 donation, and they succeeded in doing so two days before their deadline. Yesterday, WJAR’s Patrice Woods awarded the check to Tom Galluscio, president of Ocean State Animal Coalition, of which the clinic is an affiliate. The staff of the clinic and other OSAC members gathered to watch the presentation, which was filmed for television. The money will be used to fund spay and neuter operations for pets of low-income families throughout the state.
