On Nov. 22, community members and volunteers took time to help feed more than 350 homeless men, women and children at the seventh annual Hope for the Homeless Thanksgiving Dinner.

The event was held at the RI Dream Center, also the location of Praise Tabernacle Church, at 330 Park Ave. In addition to the meal, clothing, toiletries, and much more were available to those in need. Those who wanted also received a free hair cut at the event.

Elly & The Bear volunteered their musical talents as three busloads of homeless individuals were bussed to the Dream Center around noon. The meal began at 1:30 p.m. Ed Brady and Lupe Aguilar and friends spearheaded this year’s event. ShutterBooth New England offered free photos.

Community sponsors included Milk Money, Say Cheese, Thirsty Beaver, Reflections at National Gold, Fat Boys Pizza, Sonia’s Deli, Mile & A Quarter, JLS Hair Salon, Details Barbershop, EALA Bhan Studio, Smithfield Barbershop, Luniac Glamour, Woonsocket Charter School, Metro Motor Group, MAE Organization for the Homeless, Cranston Herald, Freeway Carwash & Laundry, Brewed Awakenings, JW Associates, Ces MMA, Cranston City Councilman Richard Santamaria, Mike Sepe, ShutterBooth, Allstate Lock, Campanella’s, and Body Rock.

The guests dined on salad, bread and butter, turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, pasta, cheese macaroni, mixed vegetables, cranberry sauce, fruit cups, sweet potatoes, coffee and a wide variety of desserts.
