After Mount Saint Charles took a 3-1 lead early in Game 1 of the Championship Division final round, it looked as though Hendricken would find itself back at the drawing board for another offseason.
Instead, it outscored the Mounties, 7-0, from that point on en route to a sweep at Meehan Auditorium in March. The Hawks would take Game 1, 4-3, in comeback fashion before shutting out Mount, 4-0, to claim the trophy.
“I’m happy for everyone, all the seniors,” then-junior and series MVP Pat Creamer said. “Everyone played their hearts out, and we got the result we wanted.”
Creamer proved to be Mount’s kryptonite, potting the winner in Game 1 before posting three points in the deciding contest.
He’s back this year and leading the state in points, so it wouldn’t be far-fetched to think Hendricken could be back in the same spot one year later.
