To the Editor:

As I was sitting on my porch, reading the Warwick Beacon about the proposed expansion at Green Airport, I realized while doing so, that I was constantly being assaulted by noise from aircraft, both arriving and departing at Green. I said to myself, ‘Self, my domestic tranquility as stated in the Preamble to the U.S. Constitution, was not being insured.’ Honestly, I did, I swear.

I quote partially, “We the people of the United States, in order to create a more perfect Union, establish justice, and insure Domestic Tranquility.” Now, domestic equals your home, tranquility equals peace of mind. Eureka! My home’s tranquility has been destroyed by Green Airport noise. My constitutional rights, along with many others, are being denied: The right to peace and quiet in our homes.

I suggest that the mayor and City Council notify RIAC of their denial of our constitutional rights as stated above. Meanwhile, I will contact the ACLU. I wish to make a disclaimer; the words in the Preamble are open to many interpretations, so this is my interpretation of them – mine alone on this matter. One must be careful, and cover one’s rear. A lawyer taught me that.
