With this being the 50th anniversary of the Gaspee Days celebration, banners throughout Pawtuxet Village trumpet the occasion that officially starts with the proclamation ceremony on Thursday, May 14 at 3:30 p.m. at the State House and continues through May and into June, including the Gaspee Days Parade, June 13 and the burning of the Gaspee in Pawtuxet Cove. Mayor Scott Avedisian was joined by Gaspee Days Committee chairwoman Erin Flynn recently to show off the banners and get into the celebration spirit. (Warwick Beacon photo)
