To the Editor:

As co-chairs of the 2016 Johnston Memorial Cancer Events, we are writing this letter to extend or thank you to everyone who participated. Their participation made this a successful community-oriented event.

This year marked our ninth annual Golf Tournament held on May 7 at Connecticut National Golf Course. Through the generosity of our sponsors, the many hours devoted by the committees, we raised over $14,000 for Hasbro Children’s Hospital Hematology/Oncology Department. Congratulations and thank you to everyone.

We would like to extend a very special thank you to the Johnston Sun Rise and reporter Pete Fontaine. Mr. Fontaine devoted many hours covering the committee meetings and activities. His efforts brought awareness of this event to our community, which greatly helped to make this event a success.

We also extend our deepest appreciation to all our major sponsors, Graham Builders, Gentry Moving, Brewed Awakenings, Connecticut National Golf Course, CVS, Calise and Sons Bakery, DeGregorio Corporation, Gelsomino Family, MacColl YMCA, Mazzulla Scholarship, and Muldowney Physical Therapy.
