Sarah Stone, a Pilgrim senior enrolled in the graphics artist program at the Warwick Area Career and Technical Center, was one of seven students from schools across New England to be recognized by Arisa that runs the largest and most diverse volunteer-run science fiction convention in New England. The convention was held last month in Boston. Sarah said her work for the student art contest was inspired by a video she saw on a blog. She used spray paint to create the work seen on her computer screen as well as the space painting on her desk. Sarah says she loves art “because there’s no right or wrong” way of doing things. As a runner-up, Sarah received a $50 award. She held a show at the Warwick Museum of Art, where she sold some of her work. (Warwick Beacon photo)
