A Diary of a Wimpy Kid Old School book release event with special guest Robert Capron Jr., the actor starring in the “Wimpy Kid” Movie Series, will be held Tuesday, Nov. 3 at 6 p.m. at Barnes & Noble Warwick, 1350 Bald Hill Rd, Warwick. Beginning at 5 p.m. kids can participate in a variety of Wimpy Kid activities, and at 6 Capron will conduct a meet & greet, photo op and autograph copies of Old School.

Rhode Island native Robert Capron Jr. role as Rowley in Fox’s three-movie franchise “Diary of the Wimpy Kids” (2010, 2011) is perhaps his most recognized role to date. The third installment, “Dog Days,” was released in August 2012. Diary of a Wimpy Kid Old School challenges the characters with the idea that life was better in the old days. Or was it? That’s the question Greg Heffley is asking as his town voluntarily unplugs and goes electronics-free. But modern life has its conveniences, and Greg isn’t cut out for an old-fashioned world. With tension building inside and outside the Heffley home, will Greg find a way to survive? Or is going “old school” just too hard for a kid like Greg?

Capron began his acting career when he was eight years old by enrolling in an after school drama program sponsored by Trinity Repertory Company. Later that year he landed the role as Turkey Boy in Trinity’s production of “A Christmas Carol.” Since 2010, Capron has turned his efforts to film. His first principal role was in Bride Wars, where he played Robert. Shortly thereafter, he earned a role as Young Dave’s Pal in the movie Sorcerer’s Apprentice.

Capron landed in his voiceover role as Bob in the Tim Burton directed movie Frankenweenie that was released in October 2012. In April 2012 he played Young Curly in the movie The Three Stooges. In 2013, Capron played Kyle in the Faxon/Nash directed movie The Way, Way Back. Also during 2013, Robert had his first experience in motion-capture 3D CGI as he played Derek in the motion-capture version of Tarzan.

In addition to theater, and film, Capron is currently is a returning guest star on CBS’s “Elementary,” where he plays the role of one of Sherlock’s “irregulars” known as Mason. He has also appeared on television as a guest star on ABC’s “The Middle,” and as the lead on two episodes of The Hub Network’s “The Haunting Hour.”

Capron is passionate about reading, acting, watching movies and writing his own screenplays. Over the past few summers, he attended Brown University’s Pre-College program, where he enrolled in courses centering on film studies. In May 2015, Capron was elected into the National Honor Society and was named to the High School All State Drama Team for the state of Rhode Island. He is currently in his senior year in high school where he is a member of his high school band, drama club, foreign film club, and co-captain of the tennis team.
