Affinity Sports Medicine directed by Jeffrey D. Manning, M.D. is now affiliated with Kent Hospital. Affinity offers specialized treatment and prevention of injuries and illness for all ages and abilities.

Manning is a board certified family physician with a certificate of added qualification in sports medicine. He specializes in primary care sports medicine, focusing on treating illness as well as injury. In addition to serving as the director of sports medicine for Affinity Sports Medicine, Manning is a faculty member at the Alpert School of Medicine at Brown University and the University of Massachusetts. Prior to medical school, he was a high school science teacher and coached football and lacrosse.

“We are extremely excited to have Dr. Manning join the Affinity physician organization and introduce a new sports medicine program to the patients of our community,” said Sandra L. Coletta, COO Care New England, president and CEO of Kent Hospital in a statement. “With this new program we will be able to provide the best possible care to a large group of patients who are looking for cutting-edge treatment for injuries and illnesses.”

“You do not have to be an athlete to benefit from sports medicine services,” says Dr. Manning. “Sports medicine specialists are ideal physicians for the non-athlete as well as those involved in athletics. For an individual who wishes to become active and begin an exercise program or someone who has musculoskeletal problems, sports medicine can be extremely beneficial. I am looking forward to bringing my sports medicine training and expertise to the local community.”

Norm Kornwitz, MD, an orthopedic surgeon with West Bay Orthopaedics and Neurosurgery, in Warwick, said, “We welcome Dr. Manning and Affinity Sports Medicine to Kent Hospital and the community. The services and expertise he brings fill an important void. The care he provides, paired with advanced orthopedic specialists, creates a comprehensive approach for treating athletes and anyone who leads an active lifestyle.”

Affinity Sports Medicine is located at 5750 Post Road, East Greenwich.
