After 13-month stay at shelter, April ready for real home

Posted

April is searching for her forever home and needs help. Last April, the stray puppy was brought to the Warwick Animal Shelter and no one came forward to claim her as his or her own. The one- to two-year-old brown boxer/pitbull mix has been very busy during her 13-month stay at the shelter. She has been spayed and is up to date on all of her shots. She is both crate and house trained and she attends obedience classes and is getting along great there.

Although very loved at the shelter, it is time April finds her forever home, someone to adopt, love and take care of her so she can finally leave the shelter after her long stay there.

As of now she helps welcome visitors to the animal shelter with the volunteers there by standing on her hind legs to say hello. Her favorite people are greeted with soft kisses.

A volunteer at the shelter, Kailey Fabiano, in an email said April is “a fun, energetic, and goofy dog. She behaves much younger than she is…She is so deserving of a family.”

All of the workers at the Warwick Animal Shelter and the East Greenwich Animal Protection League are working to find poor April a home; she has gone for too long without one.

April is a smart and loyal dog, but her energy may be too much for families with small children or other pets. She does love to play in the water and outdoor settings and needs regular exercise. She is in need and would be a great pet.

For more information on April or any of the other animals for adoption you can visit the Warwick Animal Shelter’s Facebook page, call the shelter’s number at 468-4377 or visit the shelter at 101 Arthur W. Devine Blvd.
