Aldrich Mansion will close out their first season of public special events with The “Hearty” Mothers’ Day Brunch on May 11, aimed at giving moms a special afternoon by the sea with their loved ones.
The brunch will begin at 11 a.m. and end at 2 p.m. The Mansion staff asks that all attendees arrive by 11 a.m. because there is only one breakfast seating.
“We’ve been looking for more opportunities to get families involved in the mansion,” said Elizabeth Kelley, communications director for Aldrich Mansion. “There are not many opportunities to be in a mansion. The building is just exquisite.”
Kelley added that the point of the brunch is to help moms feel catered to, and where better to have that feeling than a 19th century mansion that prides itself on exceptional service.
In addition to the brunch, guests will be allowed to visit the different rooms on the first floor of the mansion, and imagine what it would have been like to live in the home as former Senator Nelson Aldrich did. Weather-permitting, the staff will also open the terrace and backyard grounds so guests can sit outside and walk about the grounds.
The grounds and the mansion will be decorated with fresh flowers throughout as well.
Kelley said they do hope to have some coloring or activity materials available for young children attending the event.
But the highlight will be the brunch, prepared by Aldrich’s chef.
“The food is great,” said Kelley, explaining it is a morning brunch designed specifically for this event. It is a totally different menu than provided at breakfast meetings or brunch wedding receptions.
The menu features a variety of delicious breakfast and lunch items for all to enjoy, including: scrambled eggs, hash browns, sausage, ham, bacon, pancakes, French toast with blueberry sauce and marscapone cheese, apple raisin crepes, assorted breakfast bakery items, smoked salmon, au gratin tomatoes, pork tenderloin, beef stroganoff, grilled chicken tenderloin, and rice pilaf.
Tickets for the brunch are $48 for adults and $10 for children under 10, including tax and gratuity. Parking on-site is free. To celebrate, mom will receive a complimentary glass of champagne.

As of Saturday, about 100 seats were filled; the Mansion will accommodate 200 for this event, but need to have a number in advanced to accommodate food and table settings.
This brunch will serve as the final event in the historic mansion’s first ever winter/spring event series, which Kelley says was a huge success.
“It was great. We had a really great response,” said Kelley about the mansion’s first attempt to open the doors to the public for special events such as a Valentine’s Day Dinner and wine tastings.
Based on reaction from guests who leave some of the mansion’s private events, such as weddings or conferences, Kelley says she and the rest of the staff are not surprised the event series was successful.
“People always say they would love to come back,” said Kelley, adding that she knew people would be interested in the opportunity to come into the mansion for different events.
Looking forward, Kelley is finalizing events for the summer and is in the beginning stages of planning fall and holiday events. So keep an eye out for more opportunities to spend time in one of Warwick’s most historic locals.
