Cranston-based Alex and Ani has unveiled national expansion plans alongside several changes in its local facilities.

The company last week announced it intends to open 12 stores across the U.S. in 2015, an effort that began with the opening of a location in Aspen, Colo.

Stores in New Haven, Conn., and East Greenwich will be closed in the first quarter of this year, with their operations shifted to other locations.

Additionally, the company announced the opening of a 10,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art distribution center at 10 Briggs Drive in East Greenwich, as well as plans to double office space at its corporate headquarters in Cranston and move its retail location at Chapel View “to a more prominent position” within the development.

“Since 2009, Alex and Ani has been committed to bringing our brand to consumers all over the world, with a focus on helping to grow local economies,” Jayne Conway, the company’s chief operating officer and chief financial officer, said in a statement. “We continue with our commitment in 2015 with the introduction of our new distribution center, our headquarters expansion and our new stores.”

Presently, Alex and Ani has 45 retail locations in 20 states, including the District of Columbia.
