Hurricane Irene put a damper on last year’s Captain Peter Greene open house planned by Adele Anthony and Dennis Pacheco. The house is at the intersection of West Shore Road and Economy Avenue. But this year was different and the home that the couple has restored was open for tours on Sunday. As best can be determined, the house was built in 1751. A huge center chimney that accommodates multiple fireplaces dominates much of the structure. In keeping with the time period of the house, Pacheco wore the red coat of His Majesty’s 54th Regiment and Anthony a bonnet and cape. Joining them in period costume was Pacheco’s son, Erik, in a British uniform and Joseph and Kristel Henry. But there was a concession to the rebel colonialists, too. The Grand Union flag that General George Washington designed in 1776 flew from over the home’s entrance.
