Alphonse P. “Al” Poli, 99 of Warwick passed away April 24, 2012 at Bayberry Commons, Nursing Home, Pascoag, R.I. He was the beloved husband of the late Lena A. (Gentile) Poli.
Born in Bristol, a son of the late Albert and Frances (Giglio) Poli. Mr. Poli was a superintendent for Rawl Engineering & Manufacturing Co for 18 years before retiring. He was also a superintendent for Star-Jewelry Co. for 15 years. He was an Auxiliary Policeman in Warwick for 17 years.
He was the devoted father of two daughters Frances A. LaPlante and her husband George, and Antonetta A. "Donna" Dress and her husband Charlie both of Warwick; cherished grandfather of 6 grandchildren, Irene Rocchio Leddy and her husband Frank, Harold Cahoon and his wife Marri, Raymond Rocchio and his wife Dena, Pamela Poli and her husband Fred Meyerhoff, John Rocchio and Christopher Cahoon and his friend Cindy DeSisto; adored great-grandfather of 7 great-grandchildren; loving brother of Frank Poli of Providence, Emily DeJesus of East Greenwich, Anna Gorman of Cranston and the late Armando, John and Albert Poli, Antonette Bessacini, Theresa Aquino, Frances Carcieri and Angelina Spicuzza.
His funeral was Friday from "Woodlawn" Funeral Home 600 Pontiac Ave. Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Catherine's Church, Warwick. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bristol.
