Always a sense of humor

Dorothy Gorton Hamilton was in great spirits June 29 when she celebrated her 102nd birthday at Sunnyveiw Nursing Home, with her friends and family. Dottie, active for many years in the senior services, was one of the founding members of the Buttonwoods Senior Center. Along with her late husband, Ralph Hamilton Sr., she helped conduct community holiday food drives. She knitted blankets and caps for aids babies and helped conduct numerous fundraisers. Dorothy came from a large family of five sisters and two brothers. She and her late husband, Ralph, are the parents of three children: Ralph Hamilton Jr., who served as Ward 7 councilman for many years, Thomas Hamilton and the late Beatrice Hamilton Becker. She has seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Dorothy has not lost her sense of humor and loves reminiscing, not to mention learning what is new.
