Americo “Moe” Barreiro, 95, of Warwick, died peacefully on December 13, 2013 at West Shore Health Center. He was the husband of the late Mary L. (George) Barreiro.

Born in Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Salvadore Barreiro and Geneina (da Fouseca) Barreiro. Mr. Barreiro was employed as a Motor Repairman for Schmidt Electric and Pawtucket Electric Supply. He proudly served with the United States Army in the European Theatre during World War II. He was a member of the Portuguese American Club, The German American Club, a volunteer at the Cathedral of S.S. Peter and Paul, volunteer at the Pawtucket Boys Club, member of the Holy Name Society, and an avid Red Sox fan.

He leaves his three loving daughters: Mary J. Theroux and her husband, Peter of North Providence, Joan M. Kent and her husband, Steven of East Greenwich, and Susan A. Essex and her husband, Steven of Warwick. Cherished grandfather of Nicole, Mandi, Steven, Peter; and great-grandfather of Taylor and Emma. He was the brother of Joseph Barreiro of Lincoln, Mary Jones of Virginia, Ena Grenier of Florida, and the late Eugene, Matthew, and Arthur Barreiro.

His Funeral will be held Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at 8:45 a.m. from The Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Greenwood, Warwick (Exit 12A off I-95) with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 596 Jefferson Blvd, Warwick. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans’ Cemetery, Exeter. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Monday from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
