An Easter morning tradition

Posted

The First Congregational Church of Warwick, St. Rita’s Catholic Church and the Edgewood Congregational Church jointly sponsored an Easter Sunrise Service Sunday morning on the sands of Oakland Beach. As has been the practice for years, parishioners assumed the roles of Jesus and his disciples as he revealed himself to them while fishing on the Sea of Tiberias. The disciples had not caught any fish until Jesus told them to cast their nets on the right side of the boat, at which time they hauled in 153 large fish. Jesus then tells the disciples to have breakfast. At that point in the service, bread and fish are passed out to those attending.
