An apple a day...or two
John Howell

Scott Shepherd, assistant principal at Winman Junior High School, was thrilled to present two dedicated women at the school Crystal Apple Awards, an honor that serves as a token of appreciation to educators and school staffers. During a brief ceremony Monday, Shepherd presented one to special education teacher Jill Cantino, (center) who was described as a “hard-working, cooperative, highly effective teacher that is a pleasure to work with.” He presented another to school secretary Beverly Burd, “an exceptional woman who has the patience of a Saint.” It is rare for anyone other than teachers to earn the award.
