Animal Protection League still looking for permanent home

Posted

In April the East Greenwich Animal Hospital went out of business, closing their doors and leaving the East Greenwich Animal Protection League (EGAPL) in search of a new location.

Although they are currently renting space on a month-to-month basis, the no-kill rescue is in need of a permanent space.

The Brandi Project, which began a year ago and raises money for rescue relief efforts, has partnered with the EGAPL in hopes of raising enough funds for the volunteer organization to purchase a permanent home.

The Brandi Project, founded by Jim Paolucci, sells branded merchandise and then donates a percentage of the money raised to various rescue agencies, predominantly PAWS New England, but will now be working with the EGAPL in their time of need.

Through the partnership EGAPL will be offering Brandi Project merchandise and will receive 25 percent of all sales. The Brandi Project offers shirts, sweatshirts and other branded memorabilia.

Tammy Flanagan said that as a volunteer organization EGAPL relies on fundraising that requires minimal effort so the focus can remain on rescuing animals. She said yesterday that the organization holds out hope of reaching an agreement to buy the former animal hospital that is located on Post Road in Warwick not far from the East Greenwich line.

Paoluccis said the EGAPL received a lot of support when the animal hospital initially closed and he hoped that it would continue throughout the new partnership.
