Ann Contreras-Anastasia Chigüil, of 12 Wolf Hill in Smithfield, RI passed away on November 17, 2014.

Born in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala in 1924, the only child of the late Salvador and Dolores (Chigüil) Ordońez, she immigrated to the United States in 1970, establishing herself and family in Providence, RI, where she lived until moving to Smithfield in the early 1990’s. She was very proud of becoming a United States Citizen and finally being able to vote for the president of the United States and RI state officials. After many years working for Texas Instruments, Inc. in Attleboro, MA, she retired in 1989. Ann Contreras will be remembered as someone who worked hard to succeed, enjoyed to cook, loved music and specially loved her grandchildren.

In a world she loved so much, Ann Contreras, leaves many wonderful memories and lessons through her six children: Rosa M. Comparini, Felisa Comparini, Julio A. Contreras, Luis E. Contreras, Ana L. Fox and Jose M. Conteras and the late Veronica Contreras, nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, November 20, at 11 a.m. in St. Michael Church, 80 Farnum Pike, Smithfield. Her burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
