The Rhode Island Chapter of the American Massage Therapy Association® (AMTA) celebrated its 55th anniversary Sunday at the Radisson Airport Hotel. During the event, guest speaker Judith Berger talked about approaches in working with trauma victims and individuals who are faced with varying forms of trauma. With 450 members, the chapter’s Sports Massage Team recently took part in “Operation Stand Down for Veterans.” This is the eighth year members have volunteered to give free massage to veterans during this weekend. The chapter also celebrated members who were recognized at the association’s national convention in Ft. Worth, Texas in late September. Pictured are chapter board members and award recipients from left: Pat Bachus, Alda Mederios, Bridget Roberts, Regina Cobb, Joan Tarter-Van Hees, Frank Rapone, Debbie Kilty, Deb Luhrs, Michaele Colizza, Kim Cook, Chapter President Joanne Lozy and Paula Kochanek.
