The Apponaug 10-year-old all-star team’s run came to an end at the Cal Ripken New England Regional on Monday, as it fell 6-2 to the host CLCF team.
Apponaug, which was the runner-up in the Rhode Island state tournament to CLCF, went down 2-0 early and never quite recovered. It was the team’s third loss in four games with CLCF this summer.
For the tournament, Apponaug went 1-2 overall. It lost its opening game on Saturday 12-2 to Berwick, Maine before bouncing back on Sunday to beat Hartford, Vt. 12-7.
There are now four teams left in the regional, including CLCF, which was scheduled to play in the loser’s bracket semifinals on Wednesday with the results unavailable at press time.
