Apponaug Girls Softball held an open house and fall ball sign-up on Saturday, Aug. 29, at their new softball complex in Winslow Park.

It was a beautiful day as players ran around the bases and checked out the new playground equipment.

Apponaug Girls Softball League President Bob Chevian estimated around 100 visitors enjoyed refreshments as they looked at the new snack bar, restrooms and walking trails. Chevian said everyone complimented the park and wished they had a facility like Winslow when they played ball as children. There is till time to register for the fall ball season, which begins Saturday, Sept. 12. Visit agsoftball.com for more information.

Above, Mayor Scott Avedisian visited the new park and spoke with players and their families about the new Winslow Park and reminisced about his days playing Little League.

Below, Jaylin Baker (middle), a player in the major division, registered for fall ball. Her dad, Jay Baker, will be busy running back and forth between the fields at Winslow Park as sister Kelsey Baker (left) plays soccer with Warwick Firefighters Association.

Bottom, Arietta Chevian, a 12-year veteran of the league as a recreational and travel player and junior umpire, sets up the registration table at Saturday’s open house.
