Members of the public are invited to learn more about the issues affecting their health at the 10th annual Community College of Rhode Island Wellness Fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8, in the Commons area at the Knight Campus, 400 East Ave., Warwick. Admission and provided services are free.

More than 30 displays will offer information and demonstrations on issues ranging from cancer prevention to fitness and nutrition so participants can gather resources to improve their overall health and well-being.

A diverse range of organizations will be present, including AIDS Care Ocean State, Ava Anderson Non-Toxic, Centers for Integrative Medicine and Healing, Enos Chiropractic Center, HealthSource RI, KDA Fitness, Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island, RICAREs, Rhode Island Vegan Awareness, Roger Williams Medical Center, UnitedHealthcare and representatives from various financial companies. The URI Master Gardeners will offer free packets of seeds and several CCRI departments and programs also will be represented.

Roger Williams Medical Center will offer blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol screenings. UnitedHealthcare will offer derma scans and BMI tests, and students in the college’s Therapeutic Massage program will provide chair massage treatments to attendees free of charge.

The Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation once again will bring its Hope Bus, Mobile Resource and Wellness Center to CCRI. The center is a residential-style recreational vehicle used to promote breast health, nutrition, fitness and wellness programs.

The event is sponsored by the CCRI Wellness Committee, whose mission is to provide access to information and services on leading health issues. For more information, visit www.ccri.edu/wellness.
