Arnold E. Clarke, 90, died Saturday, February 22, 2014. He was the devoted husband of the late Vivian M. (Ansaldi) Clarke.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Merrill and Stella (Burlingame) Clarke, he had been a resident of Warwick for 57 years. Mr. Clarke was a World War II Army veteran serving in the European Theatre. Following the war, he started his career as a draftsman in the structural engineering field. He had worked for Tower Iron Works and retired from The Maguire Group at the age of 72. After retirement, he enjoyed gardening, watching the Red Sox, working around the house, and spending time with the men’s club at Spring Green Memorial Church where he was a member for many years. He had a kind and quiet demeanor and was warm and welcoming.

He was the loving father of David A. Clarke of Ware, Massachusetts, Lori J. Clarke, and Martin A. Clarke both of Warwick. He also leaves his sister, Shirley Halben, and her husband, William, of Smithfield; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Merritt Clarke.

His funeral service will be held Thursday, February 27, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Chapel, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick. Burial with military honors in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-7 p.m.
