Art and fashion on the runway
PRE-SHOW JITTERS: Teacher Angela Chrones Markarian gives last minute instructions before the start to the show.

Art teacher Angela Chrones Markarian has a background in fashion and she uses it to transform Hoxsie sixth graders into “fashion art stars” and more. Class projects that culminated Tuesday, as students paraded down the runway between students, included making Egyptian-style jewelry, the study of artists and the selection of a work that they painted on a T-shirt and a brief report on that artist that they read, or memorized, to the assembly. The PTO provided the funds for the shirts and parents and school officials turned out for the show. Apart from the lessons in art and art history, students gained self-confidence as they demonstrated their achievement and individuality.
