Art exhibit, concert set stage for Winter's Eve at E.G. Library

Winter’s Eve, the 2nd annual Juried Art Exhibit and Concert, at the East Greenwich Free Library will be held on Thursday, Dec. 6. The evening begins at 5:30 with an opening reception in the Library’s Howard Silverman Gallery. Sweet/savory hors d’oeuvres and wine will be served. Adding to the festive mood, the entire library will be seasonally decked by East Greenwich-Warwick Garden Club members.

A concert by the Hummingbird Trio will follow at 7. An evening highlight will be the announcement of the Juror’s Award, a solo 2013 gallery exhibit. Last year’s winner was local artist Lee Bergwall Hanks. Juror Mimo Gordon Riley, a celebrated Rhode Island artist, will select one artist for the prestigious prize (www.mimogordonriley.com for more information). The free event is sponsored by the Friends of East Greenwich Library. The exhibit will be open to the public Dec. 6 to Jan. 4. Although concert seating is limited to first-come, first-served, standing room will be available.

The Friends’ mission is to support and enhance library services and programs. Membership in the Friends is affordable: $10 for individuals and $20 for family.
