Kristen L. Forbes has joined the firm of Joseph M. DiOrio, Esq., as an associate. Forbes will work with lending clients in a wide range of sophisticated commercial transactions, including asset-based and real estate loans as well as foreclosures, workouts and debt restructurings. Prior to joining DiOrio Law, she was an associate at a commercial practice firm for two years. She also has served as a law clerk for the Rhode Island Superior Court and as a legal intern with both the New York State Division of Human Rights and with Bear, Stearns & Co. in New York. Forbes earned her J.D. from New York Law School in 2008, and was the recipient of an Excellence in Public Service Certificate. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Rhode Island with minors in Philosophy and Spanish in 2005, and a certificate for Outstanding Accomplishment and Performance in the Honors Program. Forbes is admitted to practice law in all state courts in Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York and Massachusetts, and the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island. She is a member of the Rhode Island Bar Association, the New York Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
A resident of Warwick, she is active as the founder and president of the Spinal Cord Injury Research Foundation and a member of the Rhode Island and Newport Yacht Clubs. She is an accomplished competitive synchronized team figure skater and was a member of Team USA, where she competed internationally.
