Dave Couch never imagined what he would encounter after taking his 98-year-old mother on a shopping run a week ago Tuesday. Interested in nature and having just acquired a new camera, he stopped by Cranberry Pond off Post Road expecting to get pictures of geese. He spotted a ripple in the water and soon saw a fury animal, which he believed to be a muskrat until it hopped out of the water and into a hole at the base of a big oak. He trained his high-powered zoom on the spot and snapped off this picture. With that, he turned to the Internet to discover the animal is an American mink. “Who would of thought a mink in Warwick… I’ve lived here 60 years and not far from this pond. I thought, as a kid growing up in Warwick, that I’d seen most of the wildlife life here,” he said.
