At least one was caught

It had to be one of the slowest Tri City Elks fishing derbies in memory Saturday as only one of the 400 trout stocked in the pond behind the lodge home was caught. Some dads and moms also took a few casts to no avail. But the day was sunny and the winds warm, making for a great outing that was followed by hotdogs and the award of trophies to all of those participating. The prize for the largest fish caught, which also happened to be the only one, went to Andrew Merrifield seen here with his mom, Darlene. Some kids, like Ava and Maria, couldn’t resist lying down as they hoped for the fish to bite. (Warwick Beacon photos)
